How to calculate the size of LED display? This is not a new topic, but it is an intriguing one. Having read a lot of articles about LED display size calculation, it is either not thorough or too technical to understand. Today LCF is centered around this issue and shares it with you in an easy-to-understand way.


It turns out that the outdoor LED display is spliced by a certain number of boxes, and the box is a certain number of module unit board composition, which means that the length / width of the box size, it must be an integer multiple of the length / width of the unit board size, not limited to a multiple.

As different models of the display module size will sometimes be different, so determine the display model, module size can be finalized, but also to determine the basic box size. To LCF's outdoor P16 full-color advertising screen, for example, the module size has two kinds: 256mm * 128mm and 256mm * 256mm; and then according to the module multiples to calculate the box size, so the Lianchengfa P16 box size: 768 * 768, 768 * 1024, 1024 * 768, 1024 * 1024, 512 * 512 and so on!


In order to facilitate understanding of the LED display size calculation method, here is an example: customers in LCF custom P16 outdoor full-color LED screen, the required size of 20 meters long, 12 meters wide, a total area of 240 square meters.


If the choice is 768 * 768 size box, can be derived:

Long need the number of boxes: 20 ÷ 0.768 = 26.0412

Wide need the number of boxes: 12 ÷ 0.768 = 15.625


The actual size of the LED screen will be: length 26 boxes, width 16 boxes.

Actual length: 26 × 0.768 = 19.968 meters

Actual width: 16 × 0.768 = 12.288 meters

Actual area: 19.968 × 12.288 = 245.37 square meters


Through the above it is not difficult to conclude that the actual LED display size size (length 19.968 meters width 12.288 meters) and the customer's request size (length 20 meters width 12 meters) there is a certain error, the results are reliable. It is also worth noting that the size of the box is not randomly designed according to the number of modules, the general box is basically between 0.5 square meters ~ 1.5 square meters, too large, not convenient for installation, transportation, moving, too small, will increase the cost of manufacturers.
